Introduction – What benefits does this module offer me?

The In the Surroundings module helps you provide guests with local recommendations such as restaurants, excursion destinations or events, directly in your Guestnet.
This creates a personalized and informative guest experience – digital, up-to-date and centrally managed.


Function Overview

The following functions are available in the In the Surroundings module:

  • Manually create individual entries with description, location and opening hours

  • Edit and deactivate existing entries

  • Integration of Google My Business entries (incl. automatic suggestions)

  • Manage and rename categories

  • Individual visibility settings for entries

How to set up the In the Surroundings module

  1. Open the backend section Guestapp > In the Surroundings

  2. Add a Category

  3. Click on the top right “New Entry”

  4. Fill in the form:

    • Name and description

    • Category assignment

    • Location and opening hours

  5. Click “Save”

Highlight Function

You can also mark individual entries as a highlight. This function causes the corresponding entry to be emphasized in the frontend and displayed first.

FAQ about the module

How do I edit existing entries?

Entries that you created manually (not from an interface/destination) can be edited.
Go to “In the Surroundings”, click on the edit icon of the desired entry, make your changes and then click “Save”.

How do I add Google entries?

  1. Select a category in the “In the Surroundings” module

  2. Click on “New entry”

  3. As soon as you start typing, the system will automatically suggest matching Google My Business entries – including address

What should I do if a Google entry cannot be found?

Make sure the location has a Google My Business entry. Also check for alternative spellings or names.

How can I rename a category?

In the module, click on “Categories” (top right).
A window will open where you can edit, rename or deactivate existing categories.

Can I deactivate an entry without deleting it?


Yes. Use the button under “Published” for the desired entry:

  • Green = visible to guests

  • White = not visible

A deactivated entry can be reactivated at any time.

Can the order of entries be changed?

The order of the entries is basically random.
However, individual posts can be marked with a star to highlight them as highlights; these will then always appear at the top in the guest view.
Manual changes to the order, for example via drag-and-drop, are not possible.
