Introduction – What benefits does the integration from Char offer me?

The Char interface helps you offer your guests a modern, digital stay. This way, you digitize the check-in process, reduce manual effort and provide your guests with a consistently connected experience.

How to set up the Char integration

ℹ️ You can connect Char directly by yourself. A detailed guide can be found in our article on the integration.

Below is an overview of the requirements needed for integration:

Provide technical prerequisites
Confirm the communication with the Protel server by:

  • Running a ping test to the IP address of the Protel server

  • Running a telnet test on the specified port

Gather the information for setup
Provide CHAR with the following data:

  • IP address and port of your Protel server

  • A full list of available rooms

  • A list of languages activated in Protel

  • A list of all room statuses in Protel

Receive access credentials
After receiving these data, Guestnet generates the access credentials and forwards them along with all relevant information to CHAR.

Coordinate the installation appointment
After review, CHAR issues a proposal. Once signed, you receive an email from CHAR PMS including:

  • A suggestion for a joint installation appointment

  • A download link to the installation software
    The goal: On the scheduled date, CHAR PMS connects directly to the computer where Protel is running and performs the installation together with the Protel team.
